SLC 5/05 Ethernet RSLinx Driver Communication Setup

I recently bought a SLC 5/05 CPU and am trying to communicate with the Ethernet port for configuring it. I can communicate using the DF-1 port, however I will soon be using this port for communication to a PanelView 900 so I need to use the Ethernet one for configuration and troubleshooting. Here are my settings for the SLC 5/05:

IP Address: 192.168.1.2

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Gateway Address: 0.0.0.0

Bootp Disabled

Here are my settings for the laptop I m using:

IP Address: 192.168.1.1

Default Gateway: None

No Firewall

I also have a crossover cable going from the PC to the SLC. When I configure the Ethernet driver in RSLinx, I add 192.168.1.2 to Station 0 and then try to browse it. It browses it and sees it but shows it as an Unrecognized Device and will not communicate with it. I also pinged the PLC from the command prompt and received successful replies from it. I thought it could be a software issue because we do have RSLogix 500 and RSLinx versions that are older. We have RSLogix 500 Version 5.20.00 Build 17 and RSLinx Lite Version 2.31.00 Build 10. However, I talked to another engineer who uses the same versions and in a previous project, was able to communicate with a SLC 5/05 through an ethernet switch.

Am I missing something here. I m not quite sure where else to go to troubleshoot this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Pete.

PLX31-EIP-PND

The EtherNet/IP to PROFINET IO Device slave gateway offers bi-directional data transfers between EtherNet/IP controllers and a PROFINET IO controller. The EtherNet/IP Driver supports I/O connections for guaranteed data delivery or Message instructions to send data to/from the PACs. The gateway supports 1440 bytes of input data and 1440 bytes of output data for larger applications.

In addition, the gateway s multiple I/O connections, allow you to set different RPIs for control data and module diagnostics, enabling you to optimize your Ethernet bandwidth.

Features and Benefits

Embedded EDS Add-On Profile allows for simplified integration and reduced configuration time for Rockwell Automation PACs.

No ladder programming is required when using I/O connections.

Multiple I/O connections allow you to set different RPIs for status and control data, enabling Ethernet bandwidth optimization.

Communication via an I/O connection provides guaranteed data delivery and enables the PAC to monitor for communication faults.

SD card slot SD card optional is used for storing configuration files in the event of a disaster.

ProSoft Discovery Service allows your PC to find the gateway and change its default IP address without being on the same subnet.
